The problem is, the desktops, seats and chair backs were made of materials that were much less durable than the frames they were mounted on. Since most of wear and tear-the cracks, gouges and markings-doesn't occur on the frames, why replace the entire desk?

Today's components are the state-of the-art, high density and precision molded: they are made to withstand years of abuse while looking great! When combined with those heavy steel frames, you have classroom furniture that is better than new.
